What a great way to spend Mother's Day. Abigail was baptized today. She looked absolutely beautiful! Fr. Eric at Our Lady of Perpetual Help is the pastor and did a beautiful job.

Michael and Brittany were the God parents and were so proud. Abigail was so good and did not make a peep.....that's Abigail.

There was a nice crowd of family and friends and went to Vic and Marla's afterwards for a nice lunch. God is so good.

Our "Baby" turns 30!!!!

"Hey, there is a party goin' on here!!!!!!"
The Powers Brothers, Dan, Joe, James and Sam

Bridgepoint Elementary....Miss, Alicia, Janell and Jackie
Maddie and Victor...."Someone get us out of here!!!!!"
Meredith and Sam...Saturday morning coming to pick up Sam.
"Let's get ready for Fla.."

Yes, Meredith turned 30 on the 9th!!!!! It's so hard to believe. Someday she will realize just how quickly the time does fly.

We decided to have a surprise party, well.....try to. The kids had all decided that they would go out and celebrate and we would go out as a family for dinner. The plan was to meet here first, go out and eat and later they would meet up with their friends.

Meredith said as they turned the corner and saw all of the cars, big surprise, she knew something was up.

We had a great time. We kept Sam all night and he was wonderful. He woke up bright eyed and ready to go. Papa and I took him to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and he was so good.

Enjoy the pix. Thanks everyone for coming. Happy Birthday again Miss. We love you

Read this for a Smile:)

This is so funny....It's the poem that was in my birthday card from Alice. Read this and put a smile on your face.

The truth about Women our age---

We've seen it all.
We've done it all.
We've been around the block

We're living large
We're so in charge

Old ladies?
What a crock!

We've just begun
To have our fun!

We've earned
each little wrinkle.

Say it loud!

We're downright proud,
and when we laugh, we tinkle.

Real women feel
It's no big deal
to add another candle--

We're old! We're bold!
We're solid gold!
There's nothing we can't handle!

I loved this....How true. Life is Good

Oh the birthday feast...Salad and chicken!!! Notice the diet coke cup?:)
Let the Silly Singing begin!!! Happy Birthday ice cream, candles and all!
Alice and I share the same month for our birthdays, mine the 3rd of May and Alice, today the sixth. We meet on Tuesday evenings at Debbie Facklers house for our Cursillo prayer group. Whenever someone celebrate's their birthday we always have dinner together (prepared by the rest of the group) and exchange gifts. We do silly things like Debbie turning on her outside Christmas lights to singing "Happy Birthday" loud, crazy, out of tune like you've NEVER heard before. We then laugh and laugh! This is what birthday parties are supposed to be like, right?

Enjoy the pix!!!!! Thanks girls. DECOLORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Derby, MAY 3, 2008!!!! (My Birthday)

Fifty six years ago, May 3, I was born on Derby Day. My dad was in Germany during the Korean War and Mom was here with her family. My birth was "record time!" Almost didn't make it to the hospital. After I was born the nurses at Baptist Hospital encouraged Mom to name me Gayle. Hill Gayle was the Derby winner that year and they told mom that she won the fastest race. Mom said she had strict "orders" from Daddy that if a girl was born he liked Christine. Mom and Daddy decided to add her name and I am, Mary Christine.
This year my birthday once again landed on Derby Day. I love Derby Day. We have tickets to the Oaks and Derby. Victor and I both agree that two days is a lot so Meredith and Joe take our tickets to the Oaks and we go to the Derby. The weather for Oaks day was not good but Derby Day was beautiful. We had a good time with family and friends and dinner afterwards. Here are a few of the pix.

"Uncle Joe to the Rescue" ????

Joe and Sam
Trying on Mommy's Derby hat
WHAT A DOLL....I HAVE TO SAY SO
So cute that I put this on twice..(not really, mistake)
"hey uncle joe, something is missing on top of your head"
"So Big".......right on cue

Victor thinks the world of Uncle Joe, and he thinks he can do just about anything. Joe loves to horse around with the kids and just have fun. He and Sam stopped over and Victor thought Joe could solve our "weather problems" regarding our kite flying attempt. Thank goodness Joe was able to convince him it was just not a good day. We did have fun with Sam looking for bugs and just hanging out. He are some other real good pix of Sam, Joe and lil Victor. I was a beautiful day as you can see by the pix.

METEOROLOGY 101

"I'm ready Mamo"
"I hope it stay's up"
"Wow, it's flying high"
.....for a while :(
Today Victor and I "attempted" to fly a kite! How much fun for me just trying again...it's been several years since I've tried to fly a kite. However the weather was just not cooporating. As you can see our kite was up....and then down. The problem I had was trying to explain to Victor about the wind. He just kept asking, "why"...so my Mamo teaching skills were very limited. I needed my next door neighbor Rick who is a meteorologist for the National Weather B. here in Louisville. We had a great time and our kite did stay up a while and I convienced Victor that flying the kite on the beach in New Smyrna Beach will be much easier and lots of fun.

Baby Sam is how the kids fondly refer to their new cousin..they are getting lots of practice for their newest addition

The Loss of a dear friend.

On July 3 a dear, dear friend of ours, Chips Cronen returned to Heaven. He will be missed. We pray and ask for prayers for his wife Barbra and sons.
I came across this scripture that seems to be appropriate for Chips, it reads from Ephesians 6: 16-18
"At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the evil one. And accepting salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occassion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for God's people."

This is just one thought that gives "light" to the life of Chips Cronen. He was truly a prayer warrior. I've counted on his prayers many times and will continue to do so..
